Dr. N. Geetha Nagasree is one of India’s distinguished Surgical Oncologists and is widely recognized as the first formally qualified lady Surgical Oncologist from the State of Telangana. Over nearly two and a half decades of dedicated service, she has seamlessly combined clinical excellence, academic leadership, cancer awareness, women’s empowerment, and social commitment, making a profound contribution to oncology and public health.
An alumnus of Guntur Medical College, she completed her MD from the prestigious National Institute, JIPMER, Pondicherry. She finished her Super Specialty Degree MCh (Surgical Oncology) from one of India’s premier National Oncology Institutes, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre, Bengaluru.
Her training and work experience in Surgical Oncology include several reputed Institutes such as MNJ Institute of Oncology and RCC, Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Institute and Research Centre, KIMS Hospitals, Continental Hospitals, Care Hospitals Hyderabad, Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum, and Institutes abroad such as UMCC, Nebraska, University of Illinois Hospitals, and Washington University Hospital.
Dr. Geetha Nagasree’s professional excellence has been recognized globally. She is the recipient of the prestigious Shingo Fuji Young Scientist Award, the International Gynaecological Cancer Society (IGCS) Travelling Fellowship, and the IGCS Travel Grant Award. She has also received recognition as an active member of the International Gynaecological Cancer Society and has served on the Executive Board of the Association of Gynaecological Oncologists of India (AGOI).he is a regular faculty at National and Internatinal conferences and workshops. She has consistently mentored young surgeons and oncologists while actively participating in continuing medical education programmes across India. She was honoured with the Times Healthcare Achievers Award as the “Rising Star of the Year in Oncology” and has received numerous felicitations from professional bodies and voluntary organizations for excellence in healthcare and community service.
She has a strong record of social service through various organizations. She is committed to the objective of mass screening for women’s cancers especially in the poor and underprivileged areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and regularly conducts and directs camps for the same.She is the national Women convenor fo Bharat Vikas Parishad and In her voluntary socio-cultural work, she frequently coordinates major regional and zonal initiatives for Bharat Vikas Parishad, such as organizing large-scale diagnostic events, health screening camps, and artificial limb distribution drives. She is the Chairman for Cancer prevention and detection in Rotary 3150 for the past three years and conducted extensive cancer awareness and detection camps. She also helps His Holiness Chinna Jeeyar Swamy in screening lakhs of women for cancer, and has been felicitated several times by him.She was the BJP Telangana Chairperson for Policy and research for women, and works extensively on the twin themes of cancer awareness and women empowerment. Her yearly program Women be Victorious draws extensive support, and is a celebration of the twin themes with the 40 odd women organizations she works with throughout the year.She works extensively with various women entrepreneurs and policy makers in Telangana, and her services have been acknowledged several times in the past. She is a regular contributor to the press, especially the vernacular medium on oncological health concerns in both the television and print media.
